39-year-old Lviv resident Roman Sobechko died in the war against the Russian occupiers. He wrote poetry and published three collections, in civilian life he worked as an administrator at private enterprises, and in 2024 he came to the defense of Ukraine.
The warrior died on October 18 in the Donetsk region, in the Dobropol direction. The tragic news was reported by the press service of the Lviv City Council.
The hero defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country as part of the 132nd separate reconnaissance battalion of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Born on July 20, 1986 in Lvov, studied at Lyceum No. 18, and then at the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management (qualification - business manager).
Relatives said that Sobechko was kind, compassionate, sincere and creative. Loved nature, relaxing in the forest, picking mushrooms and fishing. He was interested in football and origami.
Sobechko is the author of three poetry collections: “Dawn”, “With Faith in the Heart”, “Legends of the Rakovetsky Forest”. In many poems he sang love for his native land and nature. He wrote:.

The Facebook page of the Lviv Church of All Saints of the Ukrainian People (UGCC) reports that in April 2025, the Hero was seriously wounded and underwent several operations. He returned to duty in August. He was awarded the War Veteran medal.

The deceased is survived by his father Yaroslav, mother Galina and brother Ostap.
