According to WHO, about 10 million Ukrainians are at the risk zone of post -traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). For the state, this is not only a medical, but also a socio-economic challenge. Famous scientist, director of the educational and scientific institute of mental healthy ’nm. Bogomolets Oleg Chaban believes that society should now prepare for mental health problems that will arise after the war. For the treatment of psychological disorders, an important factor is the proximity of the native home, the usual environment for life, the activation of past neural connections, as well as high-tech solutions in medical practice, for example VR therapy.
The effectiveness of the use of VR becomes the subject of the interest of doctors from different countries. The virtual reality method has proven the effectiveness in the USA and other countries and with the support of partners from Germany, Korea, Japan is already actively developing in Ukraine View of Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy Postocol Post-Traumatic Stress DisorDer Treatment in Military. The classic course of treatment of post -traumatic disorder requires 30-50 sessions. In certain cases, the VR approach allows you to achieve a comparable result in about 10 sessions, reducing time and reducing the load on the healthcare system.
It is well known that PTSD arises when biochemical processes in the body change, when after the psycho-trauma after 3-6 and more months, people begin to feel stress, fatigue, loss of attention, irritability, anxiety and constant intrusive thoughts that bring them to suicide or crimes.
" Therefore, it is necessary to help people overcome the past and free themselves from psychological injuries, which should be one of the priorities of the state and civil society. This is directly related to the reduction in the risks of social destabilization and economic losses, ”said Vladimir Kosterin.
The Ministry of Veterans of Ukraine finances only the work of doctors in the process of therapy, and the training of specialists, the purchase of the VR program and telecrusable complex and scientific and information support falls on the shoulders of doctors. At the same time, the personnel deficit is critical: according to the Ministry of Health in Ukraine, only 50 psychiatrists and psychotherapists per million residents, while in the EU - 150-200. Psychiadri I psychotherapy in Ukrainian Navantazheny also has a burnout problem, so technological projects should be helped for doctors.
Understanding and responsible for their employees and all citizens of the country, far -sighted entrepreneurs are acting ahead of lead, preparing sledges in the summer, and the cart in winter - creating the technical conditions for the work of doctors in areas of deployment of their enterprises. Pilot programs are introduced in hospitals, for example, in the Kyiv region and Nikolaev. There are already examples of corporate support: Kalganoff brands and “princes lion” financed the training of doctors and equipping rooms of VR therapy rooms. Such experience confirms that a socially responsible business is able to accelerate the introduction of innovations, reduce the risks of exacerbations of PTSD and prevent economic losses from reducing working capacity.
At one of the events dedicated to the needs of veterans in the Kyiv region, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Alexander Kornienko noted socio-medical initiatives with the innovative component.
" VR allows you to model the situation in a safe environment in order to work out injuries with specialists and return people to a full life, ”said the vice speaker.
Support from sponsors and local authorities is an investment in the health of veterans, employees, their families and the whole country. Scientificly based VR therapy can help Ukrainians defeat not only external threats, but also the internal consequences of the war, making society sustainable and psychologically healthy.
