In the first non-state Mining and Metallurgical University of Metinvest Polytechnic, the fourth academic year in Ukraine. This year, the university chose more than 150 bachelors and masters, as well as for the first time - 94 professional younger bachelor. Among the applicants are 26 war veterans, in particular, employees of Metinvest enterprises and Mariupol defense participants.
In total, more than 600 students are studying at the university today, among them 52 veteran: for them, education is not only an opportunity to get a new profession, but also an important stage of returning to a peaceful life. This year, four defenders of Mariupol - the National Guard Dmitry Klandsaty and Vitaliy Andrushchenko, as well as Morpehi Alexander Pankiv and Konstantin Ivanov, who survived the captivity and returned home, entered the undergraduate and graduate programs.. They chose training at IT specialties, automation, robotics and business analytics.
Another student - Vladimir Tishchenko, a marine corps veteran, who, after being wounded under the Kryns, was demobilized and returned to work for Zaporizhstal. He entered the program " And Vladimir Zolotarev, an employee of Northern GOK, combined his studies with military service during undergraduate. Now he continues to study at the magistracy in mining.
" They prove that education can really become a new stage in life, a step towards knowledge and professional growth. Together with the Metinvest group, we create conditions so that everyone can realize their potential and contribute to the development of Ukrainian industry, ”says the rector of the university Alexander Povyzhny.
Since the creation of Metinvest, the Polytechnic has received more than 1330 students, and 267 graduates have already received masters' diplomas and work in industry.
“We support the university because we are convinced that only the cooperation of business and education can provide preparation of the new engineering elite for the restoration of Ukraine,” says Tatyana Petruk, director of sustainable development and interaction with the staff of the Metinvest group.
University programs cover metallurgy, mining, mechanics, IT, automation, electric engineering, labor safety. Training combines the theory with practice in the production of Metinvest, and the most successful students receive scholarships, grants, work proposals and internships abroad. The University was founded by the Metinvest group in 2020 at the initiative of Rinat Akhmetov. His mission is the creation of a European level in Ukraine, focused on the needs of modern industry.
