The rethought work of 1968 now acquires a new meaning and becomes part of an important charitable mission, as well as the symbolic discovery of The Great Ukranian Songbook platform. The project is aimed at returning to life the forgotten masterpieces of the Ukrainian author’s song from the 1950s to the present day.

A clip with rare archival newsreels of Kyiv of the 60s can be viewed for Donat from 68 UAH on the project platform: Link.

The author of the music is the Ukrainian composer Yakov Lapinsky- a representative of the generation of the 60s, whose work remains almost unfolded in audio and video stories. His music-sophisticated, poetic, intonationally deep-now sounded in a symphony-jazz arrangement. Lyrics - poets Valentina Naumenko.

A team of professional Ukrainian musicians worked on the record: a composer, arranger and jazz trumpeter Dennis Ada, pianist Rodion Ivanov, drummer Pavel Galitsky, smuggler and sound producer Maxim Gladetsky, and the orchestral arrangement was created.

Mastering track was carried out by the legendary engineer Andy Walter at the Abbey Road studio in London-a specialist with more than 30 years of experience who worked on the archival records of The Beatles, David Bowie, Radiohead, Coldplay, Maria Callas and many other other other.

" Notes were subsequently found in the funds of the library of Vernadsky. Therefore, we sought to reveal the potential of this work, to show how it could sound without censorship.

It is this song that opens our project, because it is a work of the underestimated Ukrainian composer, which is almost not talked about. When we turned to music funds, it turned out that a significant part of his work was not digitized and inaccessible to modern performers.

And at the same time in this song there is a desire to break out of the restrictions of the Soviet era, and Valentina Naumenko’s poetry adds tenderness and lyrical beauty. The content and spirit of this composition is the best convey our idea - to revive voices that deserve a new life, ”says the initiator of the project and performer Maryana Golovko.

The clip was created on the basis of rare newsreels of Kyiv in the 1960s, which the project team found in the state film photophone-archive. Wheat and digitized. Most of them have not previously been demonstrated publicly. These shots became a visual background of the song - silent witnesses of the era who come to life through music. The director of the clip was the documentary of Stanislav Dorongchenko.

The Great Ukranian Songbook is a platform for the revitalization of the song heritage of Ukrainian composers. The team finds songs excluded from the official canon, and return their voice in a modern sound space. This is a music that was supposed to sound and attend the international song landscape - and now it will sound.

The project was implemented with the support of the producer, philanthropist and philanthropist Guy Berfield, the Alcohol -Ukrainian Charity Fund of Sergey Berezenko "
