In the Transcarpathian region, a man refused to mobilize due to the fact that he was afraid of war. Military service was appointed up to 3 years and 6 months in prison.

This is stated in the verdict of the Mezhgorsky District Court. At the hearing, the man pleaded guilty. In December 2023, a resident of Transcarpathia was recognized as suitable for military service. Employees of the territorial recruitment center tried to give him a summons, but the man officially refused mobilization by submitting a corresponding application.

At the trial, he admitted his guilt, explaining that he was afraid of war, since his brother was already serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The court found the man guilty under Article 336 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (“Evasion of conscription for military service during mobilization”) and sentenced him to 3 years in prison.

However, the term of imprisonment was increased to 3 years and 6 months, taking into account the outstanding criminal record for the distribution of pornography and stay on a trial period.

Recall that in the Odessa region there was a trial of a man who in early 2024 refused to mobilize. He explained his decision to his own “religiosity”, but in the courtroom he did not mention either prayer or 10 commandments, despite the fact that he called himself very zealous believers.
