“I fell from the explosion, I raise my head and see how the entrance to my parents’ house has collapsed.”. These terrible memories are forever etched in the memory of Vitaly, a miner from Toretsk. That day, he was just returning home from the night shift and found himself in the epicenter of shelling, during which he received a serious leg wound. The man entrusted his story to the “Voices of the Peaceful” Museum of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.

Recalling the first minutes after the shelling, Vitaly admits: he was very afraid of bleeding right in the middle of the street, because there was no mobile communication in the city at that time. Fortunately, a man drove by and gave the triggered rubber rope as a turnstile.. Subsequently, volunteers arrived and took Vitaly to the hospital. First, the man was treated in the Dnieper, and the main operation was performed on the man in Zaporozhye. Vitaly is currently undergoing cost treatment. Assistance with medicines was provided by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation as part of the “Saving Wounded Adults” program.

" You can't step on your feet yet, but I hope for the best. The doctor said he doesn’t know if I’ll dance, but I’ll definitely walk. Thank you very much for your help,” says Vitaly.

As part of the program “Treatment and Rehabilitation of Wounded Adults,” the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation provides assistance to residents of Ukraine who suffered as a result of enemy shelling: this includes treatment, rehabilitation, and psychological assistance.
