Ukrainian university students must undergo basic combined arms training. It will consist of a theoretical and practical course. This statement was made by Deputy Minister of Defense, Brigadier General of Justice Sergei Melnik. He added that the corresponding law was signed by the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky. " The document provides for changes in the acceptance of Ukrainian citizens for military registration, as well as their medical examination during basic combined arms training.. We are introducing basic general military training for students, as well as students of higher educational institutions,” Melnik said.

He added that the theoretical course will be introduced in all universities and will be taught in 1-2 years for all students, both men and women. He noted that the practical part of the course will be completed only by men in training centers.

Melnyk also added that women, if desired, can undergo the practical part of the training if they register for military service at local territorial recruitment centers.

" The main emphasis will be on:

tactical, fire, reconnaissance, psychological training, as well as combat survival,” Melnik summed up.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Council of Reservists of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Ivan Timochko, said that in Ukraine, which has been at war for years, it is extremely necessary to reduce various methods of evading military service, and not just talk about lowering the mobilization age. For example, it is worth reconsidering the issue of restrictions on the reservation of military personnel and overage students.
