The European Union has postponed the launch of the ETIAS system, which provides for tourists from countries with which a visa-free regime is in force, the need for prior registration. The system was supposed to be launched at the beginning of 2022, but was postponed until December. Writes about this " When the system is launched, Ukrainians with biometric passports will have to pre-register in the new system by filling out an online form. Such registration in ETIAS will cost 7 euros and will be valid for three years, during which re-registration for travel is not required.. The European Union notes that ETIAS is not an analogue of a visa, since the questionnaire does not provide for confirmation of the purpose of entry or the provision of other accompanying documents. The European Commission estimates that it may take approximately 20 minutes to complete the online application for the first time.. In most cases, authorization will occur automatically within a few seconds or minutes..

If suspicions arise or information requires additional analysis, the application will be processed manually by the competent authorities.. In any case, the period for consideration of information with the adoption of an appropriate decision will not exceed 96 hours. The information provided in the questionnaire will be checked with the databases of the EU and Interpol to find out whether the person has exceeded the time of stay in the EU, whether he has committed crimes in the EU, whether he has other specific prohibitions on entry..
