Maidan affairs. Former ministers and the head of the SBU during the Yanukovych era were informed of new suspicions

The State Bureau of Investigation has reported new suspicions of crimes on the Maidan to nine former high-ranking officials during the reign of ex-President Viktor Yanukovych. Reported by the press service of the RRG.

The suspicion was reported to former officials (notices were sent to lawyers and to the last known places of residence):.

- to the Minister of Defense (then it was Pavel Lebedev, - ed.. - to the head of the Security Service of Ukraine (Oleksandr Yakimenko, - ed.. ) and his first deputy - the head of the Anti-Terrorism Center; - to the Minister of Internal Affairs (Vitaly Zakharchenko, - ed.. ) and his deputy; - Chief of the Main Directorate - Commander of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs; - Acting Head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kiev; - Deputy Head of the Main Directorate - Head of the Public Security Police of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Kiev; - to the commander of the PMON "

All of them are suspected of especially grave criminal offenses during the protests in the center of Kiev from 18 to 20 February 2014.

They are charged with: - committing a terrorist act in order to intimidate the population, which led to the death of people; - Infliction of bodily harm of various degrees of severity to protesters, premeditated murders and attempts with the use of firearms and special equipment; - abuse of authority, accompanied by violence, the use of weapons and special equipment, which entailed grave consequences; - illegal obstruction of rallies.



The SBI clarifies that as a result of the actions of a criminal group led by Yanukovych, 76 people were killed during the protests, more than 800 were injured..

On August 2, 2021, the court allowed the investigation against Yanukovych in the case of the executions on the Maidan.

On November 5, the State Bureau announced a new suspicion of Yanukovych as the head of an organized criminal group. Yanukovych's lawyer denied receiving a report of suspicion, calling the information from the State Security Service " LIGABiznesInform informs about it..
