According to the deputy director of the Kharkiv Zoo Karina Detyuk, the new zoo will have a minimum of enclosures and a maximum of space for animals to live and walk visitors. People will be able to observe animals at the closest possible distance thanks to flyovers.
According to Detyuk, the reconstruction is actively moving forward. All work is supervised by the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EAZA). She also noted that there is not a single zoo-member of the association in Ukraine yet, and at the annual EAZA conference the Kharkiv project received the highest marks.
Kangaroos, penguins, lemurs and giraffe are expected to be received by the opening of the zoo in Kharkov, and the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums plans to continue to transfer new animals to the city of Kharkov.
