The Israeli government banned its citizens from traveling to Ukraine, Turkey, Ethiopia, India, Brazil, South Africa and Mexico on May 3 as part of measures to combat COVID-19.

Foreigners will be able to fly from Israel to these countries only if they have a residence permit in them, reports Avianews.

The ban does not apply to those passengers who go to the airports of Ukraine, Turkey, Ethiopia, India, Brazil, South Africa and Mexico to transfer to the next flight if the connecting time does not exceed 12 hours.

The new measures also include a mandatory 14-day quarantine for those returning to Israel from the seven countries.. Self-isolation is required even for those who have been vaccinated or have had coronavirus.

Quarantine can be reduced to 10 days if two tests for COVID-19 are performed and they show a negative result.

The new restrictions will be in effect for 2 weeks - until May 16, 2021, but the authorities may extend their effect.
