Microsoft will allow some employees of the company to work from home even after the lifting of quarantine restrictions and the opening of offices.
Reported by AIN with reference to The Verge.
Microsoft will now allow employees to work freely from home up to 50% of the time per week, or move completely to remote work. Employees who choose the second option will lose their assigned workplace in the office, but will still be able to enter it at any time and work at a free desk.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has made us all think, live and work in new ways,” says Kathleen Hogan, Microsoft's Chief Human Resources Officer, in a memo to employees.

Employees will also be allowed to move freely within the country or even attempt to move abroad if telecommuting is possible for their role in the company.
Microsoft will cover home office costs for permanent telecommuters, but anyone who decides to move from Microsoft's office will have to pay their own relocation costs.
Microsoft also named several positions that still require access to company offices.. This is, first of all, employees of hardware laboratories, data centers and face-to-face training.
