Monuments to two Heroes of Ukraine - Captain Sergei Kolodiy and Captain Alexander Lavrenko, who died in the struggle for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine - will be opened tomorrow, August 29, on the territory of the Military Institute of Tank Forces of the National Technical University " This was announced to SQ by the representative of the press center of the Ministry of Defense Vitaly Sarantsev.

Captain Kolodiy Sergey Vladimirovich was born on February 4, 1981 in the village of Peresechnoye, Dergachevsky district. September 28, 2014. the commander of a mechanized company of the 93rd separate mechanized brigade, captain Sergei Kolodiy, came to the aid of his colleagues at one of the checkpoints. Breaking through the BMP-2 to the platoon's stronghold, he entered into battle with the enemy and died as a result of a gunshot wound, giving his subordinates a chance to withdraw from the battle and not be captured. In accordance with the decree of the President of Ukraine dated August 23, 2016 for personal courage, heroism, loyalty to the military oath, Captain Serhiy Kolodiy was awarded the title Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Order of the Golden Star (posthumously).

Captain Lavrenko Alexander Nikolaevich was born on March 9, 1983 in the city of Lozovaya.

In the battles for the village of Peski, a tank commanded by the commander of a tank company of a tank battalion of the 93rd separate mechanized brigade, Captain Alexander Lavrenko, while performing maneuvers to evade enemy fire, hit a land mine, the crew members were killed. The wounded captain Lavrenko, in response to the enemy's demands to surrender, blew himself up and his war machine. In accordance with the decree of the President of Ukraine dated September 9, 2016 for exceptional courage, heroism and self-sacrifice, loyalty to the military oath, Captain Alexander Lavrenko was awarded the title Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Order of the Golden Star (posthumously).
