Operatives of the Strategic Investigation Department in the Rivne region of the National Police received information that several residents of the Dubrovitsky district are buying up illegally mined amber. During the check, the information was confirmed.

On Thursday, August 13, operatives, investigators of the Dubrovitsky department and the regional police investigation department, together with employees of the operational police headquarters, under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office, conducted authorized searches at the place of residence of the defendants, in the workshop and at the place where amber was stored.

As a result of the searches, law enforcement officers seized more than 200 kg of amber of various fractions, including finished products and equipment for stone processing. According to preliminary data, the value of the seized stone is about two million hryvnia.

For illegal mining, sale, purchase and processing of amber, according to the current legislation, liability is provided in the form of imprisonment for up to seven years with confiscation of property.
