In the small town of Grand Meadow, Minnesota, Glen Davis, a school bus driver who worked from 1949 to 2005, died at the age of 88.. Davis got a job at the age of 17 and became the most famous and beloved driver of his town, says startribune. Throughout his career, he never had an accident, and the children affectionately called him Glenny. Davis will be buried this Friday in a special coffin: it is made in the form of a yellow school bus, on the “board” of which is written the number 3 - the number of the very first bus that Glen drove. Over the years, he changed five buses.
A man often said that he would like such a coffin for himself - for the first time he mentioned this 20 years ago. However, Davis's relatives took his words more like a joke. Nevertheless, several years ago, one of Glen’s friends gave him such a gift: the owner of a local funeral agency, Jim Hindt, created a special yellow coffin for the driver in the form of a school bus. Hindt was grateful to Davis for the support that he provided to his family when cancer was diagnosed in his eight-month-old daughter Jim (the girl survived).
Then, in an interview with a local newspaper, Davis said that he really liked the " However, his relatives took the gift cautiously:
for example, he seemed to Glen’s daughter too gloomy.. However, later the family realized that the coffin in the form of a bus was really significant for Davis.
Glen Davis was a respected resident of the Grand Meadow - he not only drove children to school, but also did charity work, actively supported the local sports team and watched the farm with his brothers. He has four children left, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, says birdinflight.
