The Verkhovna Rada adopted in second reading bill No. 0873 on the introduction of a ban on the clear cutting of fir-beech forests on the mountain slopes of the Carpathian region.

The draft law proposes to prohibit clear-cutting in mountain spruce-beech stands, clear-cutting for general use and any other clear-cutting in high mountain forests, in avalanche and mudflow hazardous pools and in coastal forest protection areas in the Carpathian region of Ukraine, except for the development of clear winds and.
It is also proposed to expand by 2030 the network of paved forest roads in the forests of the region up to 10 km per 1,000. ha.
The authors of the bill are deputies from different factions - Irina Podolyak, Yaroslav Moskalenko, Tatyana Ostrikova, Arthur Gerasimov, Elena Sotnik.
