"I will not let you go": Captured Ukrainian sailor demanded an interpreter from the occupants

The commander of the Yany Kapu raid tug, foreman Oleg Melnychuk, along with other Ukrainian military sailors captured by the Russian military, in a Russian-controlled court in the occupied territory of Ukraine, exercised his right to a translator from a foreign language. This was told by the lawyer Edem Smedlyaev on the TV channel 112.

According to the lawyer, Melnichuk said that he did not fully understand the Russian language and asked for a translator. Translator provided.



Smedlyaev added that Oleg pleaded not guilty and declared his readiness "to defend his innocence in any place, including in the courts".
