The Government of Spain prepared a draft version of the Law on Climate Change and the Energy Transition and sent it to representatives of the country's leading political parties.. This document deals with a set of measures to change Spanish legislation aimed at improving the state of the environment - in particular, at reducing the degree of air pollution.. The main measure to solve this problem is a complete refusal by 2050 of any transport operating on diesel or gasoline, and replacing it with electric cars, says Spain in Russian.

The introduction of these measures will be gradual.. Thus, the ban on the sale of conventional cars is planned to be implemented only in 2040, and over the next ten years, their owners will be able to drive on Spanish roads.. First of all - already in 2023 - in each city with a population of over 50 thousand people it will be necessary to create zones with low levels of air pollution, like the one already in Madrid (Madrid Central).

When developing a new law, the Spaniards turned to foreign experience.. For example, France and the United Kingdom intend to impose a corresponding ban in the same terms, Denmark, Ireland, Germany and the Netherlands expect to do so in 2030, and Norway already in 2025. Automobile companies also decided to contribute to environmental protection: starting in 2019, Volvo will only produce electric cars, and Toyota will stop selling diesel-powered cars at the end of the outgoing year..
