On Lake Victoria rescuers found a survivor in a ferry two days ago, reports the BBC.

The divers found Engineer Alfons Charahani in a small cabin, where he locked himself up at the time of the accident. After the ship turned upside down, an air pocket formed.

According to the rescuers, the man is in very serious condition. Nevertheless, in the work of divers, there was a hope to find other surviving people.

The vessel, cruising on the most strained route, turned 50 meters from the shore. The most likely cause of the accident was overload.

At the same time, how many people carried the ferry is unknown: the cashier drowned along with the device for calculating the tickets sold. Local media claim that the capacity of the ferry was only 100 people, however, according to the latest information, rescuers have already caught from the lake at least 170 bodies of victims of the disaster.

Yesterday, President of Tanzania John Magufuli ordered the arrest of all involved in the operation of the ferry and declared national mourning lasting four days.
