Verkhovna Rada Speaker Andrei Parubiy said that on Thursday the parliament plans to consider renaming the two regions - Kirovograd and Dnepropetrovsk.
He said this during the conciliation council on Monday, "Ukrainska Pravda".
According to him, in Ukraine, decommunization has not yet been completed, and this should be done by making some amendments to the Constitution.
"There remain two areas that have still old names and have already passed all the formal procedures for their modification. We are talking about Kirovograd and Dnepropetrovsk regions. I believe that our parliament, which began decommunization, must complete it, "Parubiy said..
He noted that the amended titles should be consolidated in the Constitution, since it lists the areas.
"I think that on Thursday we can begin this process," the Speaker of the Rada.
According to the head of parliament, on Thursday the deputies will also consider other changes to the Constitution. In particular, the consolidation of the Euro-Atlantic direction of Ukraine, the accession to NATO and the issue of parliamentary immunity.
"I am also convinced that on Thursday we will update the composition of the Central Election Commission. I held a meeting, exchanged views and, until the end of the day, the factions should give their positions. I will do everything possible to make this happen this Thursday, "said Parubiy.
He added that, among other things, MPs should adopt the agenda of the session.
Parubius noted that the apparatus had already collected proposals from the factions and submitted a general work plan.
