September 5, 2018 Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine issued a decree banning the importation into Ukraine of fire-fighting products originating from the Russian Federation.

The relevant decree was developed by the Ministry of Economic Development jointly with the State Emergency Management Service of Ukraine in order to protect the interests of the national economy and increase the level of fire safety of Ukrainian citizens.

According to the resolution, from October 1, 2018, the import of the following product categories is prohibited on the territory of Ukraine:.

fire extinguishers;.

fire-extinguishing and fire-retardant substances;.

fire-blocking devices;.

fire-fighting equipment;.

equipment firefighters;.

elements of fire extinguishing and alarm systems;.

Fire trucks.

The entry of these products into the list of goods banned for import into Ukraine from Russia is carried out as part of the policy of economic opposition to discriminatory actions against Ukraine by the aggressor state.

According to the results of 2017 from the Russian Federation, Ukraine imported fire-prevention products worth more than $ 40 million. It is expected that the decision of the Cabinet will lead to a reduction in the dependence of the Ukrainian economy on imports, increasing the volumes of own production, improving the quality of construction, as well as improving the safety of citizens.
