According to the Ministry of Economic Development, the current time-setting procedure in Ukraine is optimal and coordinated with international practice, therefore, if the EU decides to cancel the transition to summer time, the Ministry of Economic Development will apply to the Cabinet of Ministers on the possibility of making appropriate changes.

It is reported that there is no economic justification for the annual transition to summer time and information on reducing electricity consumption when translating hours into the Ministry of Economic Development.

As you know, in Ukraine to translate time for an hour forward began in the summer of 1981 - together with the rest of the countries that are part of the USSR. Since then, there have been periodic discussions about the advisability of translating hours. In October 2011, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine even decided to leave the summer time constant.

However, after criticism from experts and citizens for several months, the decision was canceled. Now in Ukraine the clock translates for an hour in the spring and autumn, as in the countries of the European Union.

Details of the proposed changes the European Commission has not yet announced. In one of the options, each member state of the EU can decide for itself whether to remain in the winter or summer time.

However, the commission warns that changes in time, not coordinated between EU countries, can cause economic damage. The survey showed that 80% of the 4.6 million respondents called for the abolition of the transition between winter and summer time. Despite the lengthy decision-making process in the EU, changes are unlikely to occur this year.

To abolish the transition between winter and summer time throughout the EU, Finland called, after the petition with such an appeal scored in the country more than 70 thousand. signatures. The transfer was introduced in 1980 to reduce electricity costs.

According to the European Commission, energy savings due to seasonal changes in time is unproven. The arrows for summer and winter time are translated in Europe, in most states of the USA and in Canada, in some countries of South America and Africa, in New Zealand and partly in Australia. Some countries refused to transfer the time, and then returned again, as, for example, the United States and Germany.

In Asia and Africa, watches do not usually translate. Japan, for example, refused to transfer watches in the 1950s. In Russia in 2011 they decided to remain forever on summer time. This caused discontent of the Russians, because in the winter the daylight shifted to the evening hours. Therefore, in 2014 the country moved to a constant winter time. This again did not suit everyone, and in 2016 several regions were allowed to move the arrows forward.

Supporters of the transfer believe that this will save electricity and reduce the number of accidents on the roads.

Their opponents believe that saving energy from changing time is questionable, besides, children have to go to school in the dark, which can be dangerous. In their opinion, seasonal fluctuations of time also have a bad effect on health.

80% of EU residents do not want to change to winter time. This is evidenced by the results of online voting, which took place from July 5 to August 16, it was attended by 4.6 million. human. According to Internet media.
