Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine supports continuation of public discussion of the draft of the new edition of Ukrainian spelling. This was stated by the head of the ministry Lilia Grinevich, quoted by the Left Bank.

"Our observations and the heated debate around the spelling suggest that we need to continue this public discussion and need a large information campaign, because people are frightened that they will be forbidden to say something like that, but they will force them to say something differently. Because many of them did not even read this spelling and this sentence in detail, but someone somewhere somewhere heard something, "said Grinevich.

The Minister believes that the new version of the spelling requires additional scientific discussion, and the extension of the discussion period will allow scientists who are not participants in the working group.

"When we have a more or less socially agreed option, it must first be approved by the Cabinet, reviewed by all central authorities and after that a decision will be made," the official said..

The expediency of changes in spelling Lilia Grinevich explained, by the fact that many of the current norms arose as a result of the Russification of the Ukrainian language.
