The national team of Ukraine has powerfully performed and took the third team place at the European Athletics Championships among Paralympic athletes, which was held in Berlin (Germany), UNN reports with reference to the press service of NKSSIU.
The national track and field team was represented by 37 athletes (20 men, 17 women) who fought for the highest European Championship awards for nearly 600 athletes from 40 European countries and won 19 gold, 22 silver and 8 bronze medals.
In total, five multimedia players (gold awards) were trained in the national Paralympic team, 32 of 36 athletes returned to Ukraine with high awards, 14 of them with gold awards. In addition, 2 athletes won 1 gold medal, which were not included in the medal standings.
The best from the team of Ukraine were Leila Ajametova and Vladislav Zagrebelny who equally won 2 gold and 1 silver award.
It is noteworthy that the first place among all the national teams was occupied by Poland (61 awards), the second was Great Britain - 50.
Let's add also, this European championship was generous enough for records: in total representatives of 10 countries were beaten 15 world records and 24 - Europe. Our athletes managed to beat 2 world records and set 5 European records.
