Paragliders from Ukraine and Great Britain were killed in a collision at the competitions in Macedonia.

This is reported by NV with reference to The Guardian.

54-year-old Briton Innes Powell and 56-year-old Ukrainian Igor Volov faced the final race of the British Open in the city of Krushevo on Friday around noon.

According to eyewitnesses, athletes have twice collided in the air. After the first contact, they managed to separate, but the second contact turned out to be "much stronger".

Ukrainian Volov, who did not compete in these competitions, after the collision opened a spare parachute and landed on a tree. However, by the time the rescuers found him, he was already dead.

Powell did not open the spare parachute and was still conscious when the paramedics arrived. He suffered serious injuries to the internal organs, and also broke his shoulder, pelvis and ribs. British paraglider died in intensive care.

Powell was an outstanding instructor with many years of experience in the field of competitive flight.
