As predicted, the judge who closed the case of Kernes, asked to resign

Judge Andrei Antonov, who reviewed and eventually closed the case against the mayor of Kharkov, Gennady Kernes, filed his resignation.

This "Ukrainian Truth" was reported by press secretary of the Supreme Council of Justice Oksana Lysenko.

"Antonov submitted to the Supreme Council of Justice an application for resignation from the position of judge of the Kiev district court of the city of Poltava, motivating his dismissal by pressure on him," - said Lysenko.

Also, the judge sent a statement to the GSP about interference in his activities.

In it, Antonov insists that the actions of prosecutors who were not on the debate, "deprived the court of the opportunity to render a verdict on the merits of the charges".



The judge also recalls that the prosecutor's office opened the proceedings against him for "an unjust decision," and considers this to be pressure and his discredit.

Antonov also notes that on the day of his decision, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption announced the beginning of verified declarations.

"Such actions I. I regard as punishment for the decision, "- wrote the judge.

In the statement he asks "to take measures to ensure the independence of judges and the authority of justice".
