The authorities of Venice have banned the movement on boats without a motor on the main waterways of the city. The ban applies to kayaks, canoes, water bicycles and famous gondolas, notes Europulse.
On non-motorized boats, it is now impossible to swim along the Grand Canal and Cannaregio Canal. In addition, on some less busy channels, a similar ban was introduced from 7 am to 5 pm on weekdays and from 7 am to 3 on weekends.
A complete ban on non-motorized boats on the main canals of the city, where large ships are traveling, began to discuss after the death in 2013 of a tourist from Germany during a collision of a gondola with a ferry. After this incident, a partial ban was introduced - small boats and water bicycles were not allowed to swim along the main waterways from 8 am to 3 pm on weekdays and from 8 am to 1 pm on Saturdays.
Recall, the city of Venice recently announced that the city can introduce a tourist fee from those who come to the city for one day.
