In Lebanon, environmentalists launched the tanks of the Lebanese army into the Mediterranean Sea, in order to create an artificial reef under the water that would help restore the ecological balance, in particular the population of fish and other marine creatures suffering from excessive fishing and from global warming.

Armored vehicles were loaded into the water using cranes in front of the coast of Sidon (Sayda), a city where fishing is one of the key industries (the name Said itself is literally translated as fishing). This is not the first such action - in the past there, with the same goals, old buses and tenders were flooded.

Immersed in water, the overall technology quickly overgrown with algae and corals, which attract fish there - such "reefs" are an excellent place for laying eggs and growing offspring.

Vehicles are usually immersed in water at a distance of 70-100 meters from each other about 12 kilometers from the shore. This method was first applied in Lebanon in 2012, and it was recognized as successful for restoring populations of fish and other marine life.
