One way to start speaking in English is to read fiction in the original. Only in this way can you quickly increase your vocabulary, penetrate into the specifics and imagery, remember the stable turns and idioms. Naturally, a person who has just started to comprehend the language, it will be very difficult to master the author's text. Therefore, today many publishers have opened a new line of activity - adapted books in English, divided into five levels of complexity.

Features and levels of complexity As you can understand from the term adapted publications - a book with a simplified vocabulary and syntax. In them, complex, specific words, long sentences are replaced by simple. And they are adapted because they are designed specifically for the level of training of each individual person.

Why did this literature come about? Everyone who took in the hands of an English work of art, knows how difficult it is to understand such a text without profound language knowledge. Therefore, in order to maximally bring readers closer to foreign literature, publishers have resorted to the method of literary adaptation. There are two ways here: adaptation of already published books or special writing of books intended for different levels of preparation.

Such publications are clearly divided into levels of complexity:.

• elementary (elementary, basic, elementary) - knowledge of 200-1000 words;.

• pre-intermediate (reading and translation with the dictionary) - 1000-1500 words;.

• intermediate (intermediate, intermediate level) - 1500-2000 words;.

• upper-Intermediate (level above the average) - 2000-2500 words;.

• advanced (advanced level) - 2500-3000 words.

And the number of publishers offering such fiction and educational literature today is more than 20.

The BritishBook company offers adapted (artistic, educational) literature in English, as well as in German, French. These are books from more than ten most respected foreign publishing houses, which are broken not only by age categories, but also by the levels of preparation. Some editions have additions in the form of DVD (if the book is made of a film or cartoon) or CD (audio version of the book), a disc that will help bring the pronunciation to crystal perfection.

Pros of adapted editions Read adapted editions can be with any level of language knowledge, the main thing is to know your level accurately and take for reading relevant literature. Then the situation when the page will be dominated by unknown words, or they will all be unknown, is completely excluded. In adapted editions the number of words is at a fixed mark, and all new words appear in the text gradually and are dosed. Therefore, simplified publications are the best tool for studying vocabulary.

Idiomatic expressions (when all words are clear, and the meaning of the sentence is not) make it very difficult to learn the language, especially English.

In simplified books, they never occur, as well as complex, overloaded, long sentences that are fragmented, shortened or replaced by similar in meaning.
