Ekaterinburg residents celebrate the appearance of a huge number of long-legged mosquitoes - caramor. The size of these insects is greater than that of the "habitual" bloodsuckers: the average length of their bodies is 4-6 cm. Nevertheless, experts hasten to reassure the Urals: these mosquitoes are not at all dangerous.

Assistant of the Department of Biology and Fundamental Medicine UrFU Pavel Rudoiskatel argues that such mosquitoes feed only on nectar, or do not eat at all. Their oral apparatus is not always developed. They do not bite people, and, moreover, have nothing to do with malarial:.

"Like any kind of insect, mosquito-leggings can produce an outbreak of numbers.

Precise reasons to establish very difficult - for example, it can be rain, because their larvae develop in rotten wood. Or there are fewer predator competitors. It's impossible to say exactly, they are absolutely not exactly dangerous for people, "reassures the residents Pavel Rudoiskatel.

Outbreaks of insects in the Urals are not the first time. For example, in 2011 in Sverdlovsk region there were a lot of butterfly-hawthorns - however, unlike innocuous long-legged mosquitoes, they inflicted damage on fruit trees and shrubs.
