The Portuguese Parliament approved the bill on legalizing medical cannabis

On Friday, June 15, Portugal's unicameral parliament overwhelmingly approved a bill on the legalization of medical cannabis. At the same time, lawmakers refused to grant citizens the right to grow it at home.

During the voting, only the right-wing People's Party. Now the document must be signed by the country's president Marcelo Rebel de Sousa, reports Deutsche Welle.

In 2001, the law on the decriminalization of all types of narcotic drugs came into force in Portugal. In the country there are legal cannabis plantations, where raw materials are grown for export. Nevertheless, unlike Italy, Canada and a number of US states, the use of prescription drugs with the maintenance of cannabis for medical purposes has not yet been formally authorized.
