Europeans have reduced not only the number of cigarettes smoked, but also the production of tobacco products. Ten years ago, more than 825 billion cigarettes were produced per year, this figure has since fallen to 527 billion, the Eurostat statistical office.

Today, the main cigarette manufacturer is Germany, accounting for 32% of all cigarettes made in the EU. At the same time, smokers in Germany are less than on average in the EU - only 16% smoke daily. In second place in terms of production of cigarettes was Poland (19% of cigarettes are produced there), on the third - Romania (15%). Most smokers live in Bulgaria (28% of residents smoke there every day), Greece (27%) and Hungary (26%).
