The Chinese authorities will consider the possibility of abandoning the policy aimed at containing births, Bloomberg reported on Monday referring to sources close to the leadership of the PRC.

According to Bloomberg, the decision on this issue can be made at the end of this year, and will be made public in 2019.

The proposals that will be considered by the Chinese authorities include the possible approval of the so-called "free fertility policy", which provides for the waiver of the rule "one family - two children".

At the moment, the study of the negative consequences of the policy of birth control, which was carried out for many decades, is conducted by the State Council of the People's Republic of China.

The main goals of refraining from birth control in China are to combat the rapid aging of the population, illegal abortion and the birth of children in secret from the state, as well as the cessation of criticism of Western human rights defenders.

Initially, Chinese families were ordered to adhere to the rule "one family - one child". It was adopted in 1979 and acted against most of the country's families, except for representatives of certain ethnic groups and regions.

In 2013, the authorities weakened this principle by allowing families in which at least one of the parents was the only child in the family to have a second child. In 2015, Chinese families were allowed to have two children.
