Governor Yevgeny Kuyvashev, May 8, traditionally congratulated the Uralians on the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War during a solemn meeting with the participation of veterans, frontline workers, former prisoners of ghettos and concentration camps, residents of the besieged Leningrad and children of soldiers.

Let us note that the guests of today's solemn meeting were members of the Society of War Veterans of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

"Victory Day is Russia's main holiday, our national shrine. During the Great Patriotic War the Sverdlovsk region was both a military arsenal, and the country's scientific base, and the largest medical center where wounded soldiers were treated. The Urals sent tanks and shells, self-propelled guns and aircraft engines, medicines and food to the front, "said the governor.

Yevgeny Kuyvashev stressed, "Our Ural divisions, tankmen from the legendary Ural Volunteer Tank Corps, women and children, who were dragging behind the back-breaking labor watch, turned the Earth towards Victory".

He recalled that 730 thousand of our compatriots went to the front. The Urals fought near Moscow and Stalingrad, on the Kursk Bulge and the Dnieper crossing, on the Vistula and the Oder, in Prague and Berlin. All over Russia, in dozens of foreign countries there are military obelisks, where our fellow countrymen lie - famous and unknown heroes.

Yevgeny Kuyvashev thanked the participants of the search teams who return the names of the soldiers from non-existence and give the opportunity to pay the last honors to the fallen heroes.

Note that the search movement is actively developing in the Sverdlovsk region for more than 25 years. And today's solemn meeting was marked by the most important and exciting event:

the relatives of the Red Army soldier Pavel Tsepelev, who was believed to be missing, were returned his soldier's medallion. The remains of the soldier were discovered by the search squad "Trizna" in the Zubtsovsky district of the Tver region. There, near Rzhev, they were buried with all military honors in the mass grave of the village of Verigino. The medallion to the Red Army's family was handed over by Tatyana Khardina, representative of the Association of Patriotic Detachments "Return".
