As Znak reports, this initiative was taken up by activists of the National Committee + 60 organization on the occasion of the 1030th anniversary of the celebration of the Baptism of Rus-Ukraine. They said that Putin "is a bright continuer of the sacred cause of Vladimir the Baptist".

"He, according to confidential sources, has repeatedly been a phenomenon of the Mother of God on Valaam! It is no secret that it is there that the leader of Russia from year to year focuses and makes key decisions on the blessing of the Blessed Virgin!" - wrote the activists.

They suggest writing an icon depicting a praying Virgin in full growth, but without a baby.

"Of course, in the main version of the sacred icon to the Theotokos, Vladimir Putin himself kneeling with a request to be an intercessor and mentor, indicating the path to the greatness and prosperity of Russia!" - explained the activists.

Activists are sure that Putin's icon will rally all orthodox people around the national leader.

"The National Committee + 60" was created by St. Petersburg public men to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Vladimir Putin, which was held in 2012. However, after the celebration, the committee was not dissolved, but continues to take initiatives. Previously, activists were asked to classify Putin as a saint.
