State Duma deputy, chairman of the FPSO Andrey Vetluzhskikh and the governor of the Sverdlovsk region congratulated veterans and youth on the holiday of spring and labor, on the International Day of Solidarity of Workers - May 1.

According to Andrei Vetluzhsky, this year the region meets a special May Day dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the trade union movement of our region. For a century the trade unions have stood for the protection of the rights and interests of the Ural workers, whose work, intellect and talent created the wealth of the supporting edge of Russia.

"On May 1 we all honor the people of labor and we stand for their merits to be highly appreciated by decent wages and reliable, fair social guarantees, so that the Urals will work in modern, safe conditions," the State Duma deputy notes..

Expressing solidarity and support for these demands of trade unions, workers from different territories and sectors of the economy participate in the May Day promotions. In the Sverdlovsk region is expected to 100 thousand participants..

According to the governor, the Urals people are able to work well and fruitfully, as evidenced by the economic success of our region. Following the results of 2017, the Sverdlovsk region confidently ranks among the ten regions-leaders of Russia in key macroeconomic parameters. The gross regional product in 2017 amounted to over 2 trillion rubles, and exceeded the same indicator in 2016 by 1.4 percent. The volume of shipped industrial output in 2017 amounted to 1 trillion 994.9 billion rubles, which is 11.4 percent higher than the indicator of 2016.

"Today we have started the implementation of the Five-Year Development Program of the Sverdlovsk Region, designed to bring our region into the top three leaders of economic development in Russia and significantly improve the quality of life of the Urals. I am confident that diligence, responsibility, and dedication of the Urals will allow us to fulfill our plans, successfully implement the planned plans.

I thank the veterans of labor, the representatives of the older generation and all those who today conscientiously work for the benefit of their native Ural. May 1, traditionally on Lenin Avenue will be May Day demonstration. Columns of demonstrators gather at Pushkin at 9:00. On the square in 1905 at 10:00 a rally begins.
