The beginning was left for the wards of Andrey Shevchenko, who skilfully acted as the second number. So, already at the 16th minute the ball nearly visited the net of the gate of Japan: Artem Besedin shot from the right flank, but the ball after the rebound from Sakai hit the crossbar.
But already in the 21st minute Ukraine took the lead. After a long attack, the ball hit Yaroslav Rakitsky, after which the blow from outside the penalty area with the help of a bounce hit the target.
At the end of half an hour the game could become 2-0, however Ruslan Malinovsky failed to dispose of a good transfer from Marlos from the right flank. Payment came in the 41st minute: after filing with a penalty kick defenders of the Ukrainian team left Makino alone on the goalkeeper's line - it only remained to hit the frame with a blow to the head.
To reverse the course, in general, an equal match Shevchenko succeeded after three substitutions, when Vitaly Buyalsky, Nikolai Matvienko and Alexander Karavaev appeared on the field. It was the latter that brought Ukraine a victory after the pass of Konoplyanki on the left into the penalty box ended with a transfer back and to the right, and the defender who picked up the ball sent the sphere to the lower left corner.
Japan made attempts to escape from defeat and created an unpleasant moment for the opponent in the end of the fight, but Ukraine managed to withstand and win the victory.
