The catalog of rare animals and plants is reprinted once in ten years, in 2018 it can be replenished with new sections, the information policy department of the governor.

"At the present time, a coordination commission has been set up, which is engaged in updating the species of animals, plants and fungi introduced in the Red Book of the Sverdlovsk Region. Among experts, representatives of the scientific community, environmental institutions. The fundamental difference between the second edition of the first edition, which was issued in 2008, is that the Red Data Book of the Sverdlovsk Region will include species listed in the Red Book of the Russian Federation living in the region, "said the Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Sverdlovsk Region Alexei Kuznetsov.

Members of the commission also proposed to supplement the edition in the part of "Plants", including two new sections: moss-shaped and moss-like. Currently, the part dedicated to plants contains sections: "angiosperms", "fern-like", "lichens". The part devoted to animals in the Red Book is represented by mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish and insects. A separate part of the book includes mushrooms.

At the same time, members of the commission discuss proposals for the removal of the restored taxa and populations from the Red Book, and changes in the status category of some of them.

Thus, several species of animals are proposed to be transferred to the category of restored ones, in particular: common hedgehog, Brandt's nightmare, swan-swan and spittle, and from plants - asparagus officinalis, Astra Alpine, Ucrackerite and others.

An updated list of plants, animals and mushrooms will be formed in April, and the book itself will be published at the end of the year.
