Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill (Gundyaev), speaking on the occasion of the Day of Orthodox Youth in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow, lamented that not all young people who share Christian beliefs,. "Today we have thousands of youth organizations (Orthodox). We have in Moscow alone more than 8,000 young people who make up the Orthodox youth asset. But these are not the numbers that should console us.

Because a large number of young people still live outside the Church, although often they are people who share Christian beliefs, "said the patriarch. According to him, church interaction with modern youth is not a tribute to fashion, but "a demand from above". "We, as the Church, receive this signal from above, which turns our consciousness to youth - the most vulnerable and at the same time the most active part of our people," explained Gundyaev. The Russian Orthodox Church celebrates on Thursday the Sconce, as well as the Orthodox Youth Day.
