As reported URA-Inform, Leonid Kadenyuk passed away at the 68th year of life in Kiev.

The cosmonaut became ill when he was walking in the park Tsarskoe Selo in the capital. On the arrival of the ambulance, Kadenyuk's life failed to save.

Recall, Leonid Kadenyuk was born on January 28, 1951 in the village of Klishkovtsi, Hotinsky district of the Chernivtsi region in the family of rural teachers. In 1995 he was selected to the group of cosmonauts of the National Space Agency of Ukraine. Was trained to space flight in NASA on the US space shuttle as a specialist in payload.

In the period from November 19 to December 5, 1997, Kadenyuk made a space flight on the US Columbia STC-87 mission STS-87. During the flight he performed biological experiments of the joint Ukrainian-American experience with three kinds of plants: turnips, soya and moss.
