Since April 2019, the Galileo Satellite Navigation System Control Center will start operating in Spain, 35 kilometers from Madrid, writes EuroPulse.

Initially, in 2010, the right to host the control center was won by the UK, but when it decided to withdraw from the EU, Brussels began to look for a new place for the Galileo management center.

The Galileo satellite navigation system was launched in December 2016.

At that time, there were 18 satellites in orbit, by 2019 there should be 24 of them, and in all, 30. In addition to satellite navigation, Galileo is used for communication and coordination (for example, search and rescue operations) and in scientific experiments.

After the brexis, European institutions will leave the UK. Among them - the European Banking Organization, which will move to Amsterdam, and the European Medicines Agency, whose headquarters will move to Paris.
