St. Petersburg priest Gleb Grozovsky found guilty of pedophilia. The court of the Leningrad region sentenced him to 14 years in prison, the "Echo of Moscow".

The cleric will serve his sentence in a strict regime colony. He also must pay three families of victims 400 thousand rubles each. In the term of punishment, he was considered to be in custody since September 2014.

The prosecutor's office asked to sentence the priest to 15 years of imprisonment and for 12 years to deprive him of the right to engage in activities related to upbringing.

The former confessor of the football club Zenit and the ex-prior of the church of John the Warrior of the Gatchina diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, who has already been dismissed from the service, is accused of three episodes of abuse of minors in Orthodox camps in 2011 and 2013.

He was detained in Israel at the request of the Russian side in 2014 and then extradited to Russia.

Grozovsky does not admit his guilt and calls this case registered. Speaking with the last word, he again stated that, in his opinion, "the very event of crime is not as such".

The priest intends to appeal the verdict.
