The group was headed by Deputy Chairman of the "Opposition Block" faction of the Mykolaiv City Council Igor Kopeika. He is also detained.

This was reported on the page in Facebook by the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko. According to him, criminals were detained with red-handed Kopeyka, his son, an assistant, two heads of enterprises under his control in the sphere of housing and communal services.

At the same time, Lutsenko added that a deputy of the City Council and officials are suspected of embezzling budget funds. They were exposed in December 2017 when they handed over a bribe to an employee of the prosecutor's office.

The Prosecutor General also said that this organization systematically committed embezzlement of budget funds during the last year, and in December they tried to hide their criminal activities. Law enforcers documented the transfer of 250 thousand hryvnia bribes to an employee of the prosecutor's office, who informed his management about it in advance.
