The press service of the Ministry of Transport of Israel informs that it is possible to get a driving license for driving a car, a motorcycle or a tractor without passing a practical driving test ("test"),. It is enough to have a driving license, which was valid in a foreign country for at least 5 years. This should be a document granting the right to manage the above categories of transport. Until today, in order to confirm foreign driving licenses in Israel, the above-mentioned categories of citizens had to take a practical driving test.
The validity of the driver's license for repatriates and citizens with the status of "Toshav Khozar" will be similar to the term of the usual Israeli rights, writes newsru. co. il.
In accordance with the new rules, the validity of driving licenses for foreign workers and foreign citizens will be extended to 5 years, in accordance with the validity of the residence visa in Israel. A prerequisite for this is the availability of a driving license from a foreign country valid for 5 years and more. Previously, foreign citizens and workers, as well as their employers, had to come to the offices of the Motor Vehicle Registration Office several times a year to renew their driving licenses. Now it will have to be done only once.
The head of the Ministry of Transport, Israel Katz, said: "This is a significant simplification of the procedure for obtaining the necessary documents for drivers. The innovation will save tens of thousands of returnees, citizens with the status of "Toshav Hozar", foreign citizens and employees, precious time and money. The decision signed by me a few days ago will allow returnees to avoid excessive bureaucracy. Everyone should help immigrants quickly and successfully integrate in our country, "added Minister Yazel Katz. Katz also noted that the innovation regarding foreign workers will basically simplify the life of the agrarians. Until now, they had to stop working several times a year in order to decide on the extension of the validity period of their drivers' licenses with the status of "foreign worker". An additional simplification of procedures for drivers will also be the abolition of the need for a vision test (at the age of 40 years and older, every 10 years). Earlier it was a condition for updating the driver's license. The repeal of this decree will also save time and money for drivers.
The Ministry of Transport noted that the relevant directive obliges doctors to report deteriorating health drivers to relevant government agencies. In addition, first of all, the driver himself is responsible for driving the vehicle, and must drive only if he is allowed a state of health. Also, according to the Ministry of Transport, most countries do not require such a check. Taking into account all these factors, the Ministry of Transport decided to abolish this bureaucratic procedure.
A few weeks ago, Minister Yisrael Katz presented an extensive reform in the field of services related to the preparation of documents for drivers and the registration of vehicles. The program's objective is to significantly reduce queues in the offices of the Motor Vehicle Registration Department, as well as simplify the procedure for obtaining the documents required for drivers and vehicle owners.
