This is the first death in 2018 in the Odessa region. This was announced by the Director of the Health Department of the Odessa Odessa Regional State Administration Vyacheslav Polyasny.

He also recalled that in connection with the high incidence of measles, schoolchildren have extended the winter holidays in general educational institutions until January 20.

During this period, the public will be massively educated about the mandatory vaccination of children, as well as people from the so-called "risk groups" - medical and educational workers, "he explained..

Polyasny also noted that the regional departments of education and science are instructed to take a number of measures to ensure that in general educational institutions in the Odessa region do not take children who have not been vaccinated against measles.

It is necessary to break the chain of disease transmission. This can be done in two ways:

either stop the activities of these institutions or prevent children who do not have measles vaccine from entering there, so that they do not pass the infection on to others, "said Polyasny, adding that the Odessa Oblast State Health Department will allocate funds for the purchase of vaccines for immunization employees of medical and educational spheres.

Recall, as reported URA-Inform, the capital continues to increase the number of people who fell into the hospital from symptoms of intoxication. So, as of today, the number of measles patients has increased to 66 people, 54 of them children.
