Journalist Yulia Latynina in the column for the Novaya Gazeta tells the story of a neotpety boy from Zaporizhzhya and the political goals of the Moscow Patriarchate.

December 31, 2017 in the city of Zaporozhye 39-year-old man fell directly on the boy, whom my father drove in a stroller under the window of high-rise buildings. The suicide died, the boy too ... This case would remain an ordinary tragedy, if not for the subsequent events. When a few days later, frantic parents grieved to bury the baby, priest Eugene Molchanov, who belongs to the ROC of the Moscow Patriarchate, refused to sing the baby. "The child is not baptized, but the church is illegal", explained the stunned parents the priest of the religion of kindness, forgiveness and love.

The head of the priest, Luke, Metropolitan of Zaporozhye and Melitopol, approved the behavior of his subordinate. "If he broke the canon, he would be held accountable to God," said Luke. A little later, he explained: "The Lord punishes such actions for the seventh tribe".

Meanwhile, not everyone in Ukraine approves of the serene confidence of Metropolitan Luke and his subordinates in the fact that the Lord would like to tuck into the soul of the parents of the deceased baby and remind them - in this most terrible moment in their life - that their child will go to hell, because it was not baptized in a single place that has a monopoly approved by the Lord himself for writing passes to heaven.

Throughout Ukraine, the action began: people carry toys to the churches that obey the Moscow Patriarchate with the words: "A child is not to blame". Started already, and skirmishes: on Sunday, people in masks professionally beat two volunteers who brought such a doll to the Zaporozhye church of Peter and Fevronia. [...] What happened, really had to happen sooner or later. "I have two children, and one is baptized in the Moscow Patriarchate, and another in the Kiev Patriarchate. When I come to the temple and give a note "for health," I am always asked, in which parish children are baptized. Because they are baptized in Kiev, they refuse to serve, "- explained to me a Kiev friend. [...] To heretics are, apparently, even volunteers ATO. Many "Moscow" priests refuse to do it, arguing that they participated in the "fratricidal war". This wonderful peacefulness would look much more sincere if in the Donetsk Svyatogorsk Lavra at the very beginning of the ATU did not cover a whole gang with weapons and if not for the aegis of the Moscow Patriarchate before the "fratricidal war" in Ukraine would travel "Gifts of the Magi", the chief protection under which there was none other than Igor Girkin, he also Strelkov. By the way, no one heard that the priests of Moscow subordination refused to burial the participants of the "fratricidal war" on the other hand.

The use of the church for political purposes is old, like Christianity itself. Like the Communist Party, the church has always fluctuated along with the line of the powers that be.

Since its inception, this religion of peace, goodness and love has had the exceptional ability to divide into factions, each of which cursed others, calling them heretics. And not always the cause of the quarrel with the heretics became purely theoretical differences.

Sometimes, on the contrary, selfish interests and personal strife caused theological differences. Christians were instructed to love enemies, but they were also ordered to curse heretics, and therefore all internal enemies with soap or skating were declared heretics.

But one thing in history, another thing - now. And then, as if not to run into. Russian television told about the boy, who was allegedly crucified on the notice board. What was a lie. And the church of the Moscow Patriarchate refused to sing the boy. And it is true.
