The victims of the famine of 1932-1933 were at least 7 million people in Ukraine and at least 3 million people - beyond its borders. This was stated by Olesya Stasyuk, General Director of the National Museum "Memorial of Victims of the Holodomor" at a press conference in Kiev, Tuesday, January 9.

She noted that finally the number of victims of the Holodomor has not yet been established. In the meantime, Stasiuk recommended to follow the conclusion adopted at the international conference "The Holodomor of 1932-1933: The Loss of the Ukrainian Nation", held two years ago by the Holodomor Museum together with the Kiev National Taras Shevchenko University.

"This resolution states that today the number of losses from the Holodomor is at least 7 million in Ukraine and 3 million - beyond its borders. It was recommended, until the final amount of losses is established, to use these indicators in scientific institutions, the media, the diplomatic corps and state institutions in educational and educational work, "Olesya Stasyuk.

Stasiuk recommended that demographers and historians continue to establish the actual number of victims of the Holodomor and take into account newly opened documents. "Demographers continue to" conserve "in the scientific sphere in Ukraine and abroad the amount of losses of 3.9 million. Official statistics, which led the Soviet government against Ukraine, should not be trusted. And the number of victims of the Holodomor, when calculating which is based on official statistics, is significantly understated, "the General Director of the National Museum" Memorial of Victims of the Holodomor ".
