In December last year, the authorities of Turkmenistan banned women from driving. It does not matter whether they have a driving license or not. In December, for violation of this prohibition, traffic police officers warned ladies that the next guard would issue a fine. And in January, ANT sources in the capital reported that now traffic police officers seize the driver's license, and the cars are sent to the parking lot.

"At first I took this information as a joke, but later I faced it personally," said a resident of Ashgabat. - Now women are afraid to get behind the wheel, so many people bring their husbands to work and back ".

According to another source, in state institutions employees who come to work on a private car, have received a receipt that they agree not to drive.

Earlier there were reports of a ban on dark-colored cars. This information is confirmed by the sources of ANT. For black cars, the ban is complete. In Ashgabat, cars of dark colors disappeared from the streets, for example, "wet asphalt". Owners of these cars say that you can not go now, you need to repaint. At the same time, the traffic police does not refer to any normative acts.

The source of the ANT, close to the road inspection service, said that on December 5, the Minister of the Interior, Isgender Mulikov, informed the head of state that, according to statistics, most of the road accidents in the country are due to the fault of female drivers or with their participation. The president instructed the minister to "rectify the situation".

The ANT interlocutor believes that new bans are introduced only in order to close the main problems of the agency, namely, low professional training of traffic police and total corruption in the service.

"In one area only 14 km long near the city of Garabogaz in the Balkan velayat for 2017 there were 20 accidents, one of which was fatal. The most interesting thing is that there are always on-duty car inspectors, but they do not deal with the prevention of accidents. They stand there for money: from each truck they take 50 manats, and if they go empty, then 20 manats. And they do not care about the fact that people are literally turning around the turn and people are dying, "said ANT source.
