In 2016, there were only about 9.5 billion. This is evidenced by the results of a poll conducted by the international public opinion research institute YouGov, commissioned by Lichtblick.
At the same time, the institution noted that such a significant increase is due to the increasing popularity of LEDs. As a result, the number of individual lamps on each piece of jewelry significantly increases, while energy consumption is reduced. 71% of Germans declared using exclusively or predominantly LEDs, only 19% continue to decorate houses only with incandescent lamps.
However, LichtBlick spokesman Ralph Campwirth noted that Christmas lighting and energy efficiency should not contradict each other. Now most households rely on LED Christmas decorations that create a festive radiance and at the same time protect the wallet, because LED lamps consume 90% less electricity than conventional lamps.
For festive illumination in Germany this year will be about 660 million kW. h of electricity.
This corresponds to the annual consumption of a fairly large city, which has 220,000 households. The cost of this electricity will be approximately 197 million euros. While in 2016 these figures were respectively 820 million kW. h, 270 thousand households and 235 million euros.
Recall as reported URA-Inform, the main New Year tree in Kiev decorated with 3.6 kilometers of neon garlands. It was followed by the installation of an amphitheater under a kind of fantastic "starry sky", which will consist of 33 kilometers of garlands.
