On December 26, the famous Canadian hockey goalkeeper Johnny Bauer died in Toronto. He was 94 years old.
The death of the legendary hockey player was reported by his grandson John Bauer III.
"With great regret, the Bauer family reports the death of the legend of the" Toronto Maple Leafs "Johnny Bauer after fighting pneumonia," wrote the grandson of the hockey player.
In the course of his sports career, Bauer won the Stanley Cup four times with Maple Leafs, and twice received the award for the best NHL goalkeeper (in 1961 and 1965). In the strongest hockey league in the world, Bauer played 552 matches. In 1976, the goalkeeper was introduced to the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Note that Bauer was born on January 8, 1924 in a family of Ukrainian immigrants.
